In our fast paced and competitive environment most of us are neglecting the most important factor responsible for our life-style and well being – ourselves (as unique individuals). We need to learn how to compete with ourselves before we can compete with others. Everyone has a different understanding of health and health issues; it is much easier to improve the health of people when they understand their own body, its function, and the benefits of good health which can be maintained with a healthy lifestyle. To address these issues amongst the 40+ age range AM Fitness is running some fitness sessions for Men only (from local Mirpouri community) which are meant to promote fitness and how to follow correct dietary procedures for benefiting the individuals and their families. Project Base: Life style Issues! * Community Issues (Muslim & non-muslim) * Family/Friends * Educational Establishments * Citizenship * Anti-social Behaviour * Environmental Issues * National / International affairs * Health Issues * Sex Education in school & Islamic teachings on the subject * Fitness Sessions: Health & Fitness Sessions – Sessions are actively running at the Wolverhampton University Campus in Walsall. Adult sessions (weight problems) – The sessions will be introduced soon. Obesity/Weight Management – creating motivation and providing accessible and affordable facilities for individuals and groups of people is a big issue that needs attention and planning. Benefits of Exercise (BME) – People are either unaware of the benefits or uninterested in any form of physical activity. Stress relief – main stresses are possibly related to family, friends, relationships, Job, culture, peer pressure, lifestyles, study, medical etc Relieve Pain with exercise – for people who wish to control their intake of medicines and embark on a cheaper and effective way of relieving Joint pain. Healthy eating – menus from different cultural back grounds, “the way to a Man’s heart is through his stomach” is a statement which is a reflection of all communities and Nations around the world. ‘A healthy body will contribute to making a Man happy and a happy man will contribute to making his home happy’!! Martial Arts/Fitness for children – We intend to hold sessions at local schools and out of school sessions in the locality. Women Only Sessions – A cultural and personal preference for sisters, at present Islah Health Camp does not have a female instructor but aims to recruit in the near future. Community Cohesion: The sessions are intended for the wider community, to promote cohesion and understanding on the bases of understanding of the Diversity of cultures, religion, race etc. There is a very strong need to tackling the growing misconceptions amongst us locally as well as nationally. The media is playing a big part in this but as the age old practice goes, that ‘Bad news spread faster then good news and bad news attracts more attention then the good news’. AM Fitness.net would like to present a new approach by using the different resources available within the communities in the local area; this could be introduced in the form of discussions in schools, religious places, homes or in the form of Joint sports activities, sharing of cooking practices, fashion etc. It could be said that these things are already existent in the form of TV, Media and other sources, Yes, I would also agree to all this, but the Most Important ingredient in the cocktail of life is missing. This magical ingredient is readily available in all of us, the only thing holding us back from it are the chains of misunderstand and misconceptions which we have gagged ourselves with, we need to release our selves from this. |
